To a progressive, essential Christian doctrines are (always up for grab<\/strong><\/span>). They are open to (reinterpretation<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

What are some popular ideas about Jesus?<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An (angry social justice advocate<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A (model for living<\/strong><\/span>) rather than an (object of worship<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He is (not divine<\/strong><\/span>). He is not the same as (Christ<\/strong><\/span>), but even Christ is only as old as the universe. \u00a0Rohr<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 See the end of this sermon for a series of questions in which I will give a brief \u201ctaste\u201d of how modern religions see Jesus.<\/p>\n

A short recap: Jesus is only a (created being<\/strong><\/span>). He died because of (his life and teachings<\/strong><\/span>), not for the (sin of the world<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

A quick survey of John\u2019s words:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jesus was with God (in the beginning<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jesus was (with God<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jesus was (God<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 John 8: 23-24<\/p>\n
