\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE FRUITS FROM\u00a0 THE ROOTS \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Three common fruits of pride:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Self-promotion<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Self-pity<\/strong>)\u00a0 \u201cHumility is not the belittling of self; it is the forgetting of self.\u201d<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Self-righteousness<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 II.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 HOW TO KILL THE ROOTS \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cNothing is more distasteful to God than self-conceit.\u201d J. Oswald Sanders<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Conceit has been defined as a \u201cblend of self-absorption-that is, narcissism-with an overestimate of one\u2019s abilities or worth.\u201d\u00a0 So pride is (thinking much about one\u2019s self and much of one\u2019s self).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A few more observations:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We are each capable of turning what we see in the mirror into (our god<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pride destroys our ability to (connect with others<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pride always leads us to (isolation<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How do we kill the root of pride?<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We need to learn (humility<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We need to boast in (something better<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0\u00a0 Turn to Jer. 9:23-24<\/p>\n
