They were to light the (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>menorah<\/strong><\/span>), which was to burn continually,<br \/>\nrepresenting the (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>eternal light of God<\/strong><\/span>). But the Talmud says there was only enough oil to burn<br \/>\nfor one day. Tradition says it lasted for 8 days, when the temple was (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>rededicated<\/strong><\/span>). The 8 days<br \/>\nwere historically tied to (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Sukkot<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\nWhat does this have to do with Jesus?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\n1. It is mentioned in one place- John 10: 22-23.<br \/>\n2. Jesus is (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>the light of the world<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<h4><strong>II. A FEAST OF PRESERVATION<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Least known of the feasts- <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">(<strong>Purim<\/strong>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\nEsther\u2019s position as queen was not her (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>security<\/strong><\/span>), but the opportunity providentially given by<br \/>\nGod. God shook her and she (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>changed history<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Esther\u2019s boldness saved the nation of Israel. Satan\u2019s strategy:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\n1) Stop Jews from living: (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Annihilation<\/strong><\/span>)<br \/>\n2) Stop Jews from living as Jews: (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Assimilation<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Purim is a celebration of God\u2019s (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>faithfulness<\/strong><\/span>) and (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>protection<\/strong><\/span>) of His people.<\/p>\n<p>Next Week: Series: Expect the Unexpected<br \/>\nSermon Title: The Unexpected Birth- Luke 1:26-38, 46-55<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2022 THEME: For Such a Time. . .
