I. THE HEART BOND<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jonathan was (King Saul\u2019s<\/strong><\/span>) son and next in line to be (king<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Several times we read of Jonathan\u2019s loyalty to David;<\/p>\n

1) This passage in chapter 18<\/p>\n

2) Intercession before his father- 19: 4-7<\/p>\n

3) Jonathan warns David of his father\u2019s spirit- 20<\/p>\n

4) David\u2019s loyalty to Jonathan with Mephibosheth. 2 Sam.9<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

II. THE SUPPORT BOND<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

A couple of preludes;<\/p>\n

1. David\u2019s life is a mess.<\/p>\n

2. David needed help.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

David\u2019s friends while running: 2 Samuel 15<\/p>\n

1. Ittai- a (Philistine<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

2. Zadok and Abiathar- company of (Levites<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3. Hushai- a spy in (Absalom\u2019s<\/strong><\/span>) camp.<\/p>\n

4. Shobi, Machir, and Barzillai- provided (rest and restoration<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

More friends known as David\u2019s Mighty Men:<\/p>\n

1) Eleazar- fought until hand would not unwrap from sword<\/p>\n

2) Shammah- defended much-needed food.<\/p>\n

3) 3 men- risked lives to sneak into Jerusalem for water<\/p>\n

4) Abishai- single-handedly killed 300 men. Became ruler of band<\/p>\n

5) Benaiah- killed lion with bare hands. Became head of David\u2019s bodyguard.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some thought to consider:<\/p>\n

1. Friends are (essential<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2. Friends must be (cultivated<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3. Friends impact (our lives<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n
