TITLE: Obedience is Encouraged<\/h1>\n

Scripture:\u00a0 Col. 2:16-3:4<\/h1>\n

Following Jesus should be (expected<\/strong><\/span>), but never (demanded<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\nI.\u00a0\u00a0 OBEDIENCE AND THE \u201cLORD IT OVER\u201d APPROACH\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Two words will conflict:<\/p>\n

      \n

        \n
      1. (Grace<\/strong><\/span>)- God\u2019s unmerited favor<\/li>\n
      2. (Legalism<\/strong><\/span>)- conforming to a code to exalt self. A (self-made<\/strong><\/span>) approach to get on God\u2019s good side. Always involves man-made (rules and regulations) enforced through guilt and shame.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Let\u2019s go to the text:<\/p>\n

              \n
            1. Our (sins<\/strong><\/span>) were nailed to the Cross, not a (deed<\/span><\/strong>) we do.<\/li>\n
            2. (Freedom<\/strong><\/span>) comes through Christ, not rules and regulations.<\/li>\n
            3. We are free from the (bondage of religion<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n
            4. Relying on religion, on legalism, leaves one out in the cold when it comes to (salvation<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n
            5. Relying on religion leaves one (powerless and chained<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              II.\u00a0 OBEDIENCE AND THE \u201cLOVE IT ALWAYS\u201d APPROACH\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

              What do we need to do?<\/p>\n

                  2. We are to (reshape our perspective<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n
                  3. We are to (redefine our purpose<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
