I.\u00a0 T<\/strong>HE STATE OF AFFAIRS <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bitterness is like (a cancer<\/span><\/strong>). It takes root so deeply that it can\u2019t be (extracted<\/span><\/strong>). It is a (progression<\/span><\/strong>) that starts small and grows.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 THE STORY OF ACTION <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Turn to 2 Samuel 16. (p.268)<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Two things to note:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Shimei is a relative of (Saul<\/span><\/strong>). He would have been holding his grudge for (20 years<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Shimei\u2019s charges were (untrue<\/span><\/strong>). David didn\u2019t switch the royal line; it was Saul\u2019s (disobedience<\/span><\/strong>). David didn\u2019t steal Saul\u2019s throne; Saul (gave it up<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pick story up in 2 Samuel 19. To David, showing mercy was a (sign of strength<\/span><\/strong>). How could David do this?<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 His focus was on (God<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 He was aware of (his own failure<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

End of story? Turn to I Kings 2:8-9 (p.281)<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some final thoughts:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Develop a (thicker layer<\/span><\/strong>) of skin.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Try to understand our (offender<\/span><\/strong>) and where (they are coming from<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Try to remember times when you (needed forgiveness<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 Openly declare your forgiveness and (move on<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n
