I.\u00a0 THE PROBLEM TEACHING<\/h4>\n

What is penal substitution? Jesus\u2019 sacrifice on the cross takes the place of the punishment we ought to suffer for our sins.<\/p>\n

Their ideas in a nutshell:<\/p>\n

            1. Atonement is a (<\/strong>cruel and barbaric<\/strong><\/span>)<\/strong>doctrine.<\/li>\n
            2. Jesus was not a substitution for (sin<\/strong><\/span>) on (humanity\u2019s<\/strong> behalf<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              II. THE CURE<\/h4>\n

              Two words need defined:<\/p>\n

                  \n

                    \n
                  1. \n
                      \n
                    1. Atonement- Making as one.\u201d The NT word is (reconciliation<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n
                    2. Ransom- \u201cto be bought back\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      There is no Christianity without the cross. Why?<\/p>\n

                          \n

                            \n
                          1. \n
                              \n
                            1. The cross was necessary to fulfill God\u2019s (eternal plan<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n
                            2. The cross was the only way to (to save us from our sin<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n
                            3. The cross satisfied the (wrath of God<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
