He was slighting the (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">faithfulness of God<\/span><\/strong>) as the shield of Israel. \u201cFor you are the glory of their strength, by your favor our horn is exalted. For our shield belongs to the Lord, our king to the Holy One of Israel.\u201d Ps.89:17-18<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Reveals two things about David\u2019s personal life:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">1. He was out of touch with (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the Lord<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">2. He was (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unaccountable<\/span><\/strong>) to anyone around him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol type=\"I\" start=\"2\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial Black, sans-serif;\">PRIDE\u2019S DEATH <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Verse 10: \u201cstruck him\u201d- \u201cto attack or to smite or to be assaulted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The mark of a person after God\u2019s heart is not perfection but a (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">sensitivity to sin<\/span><\/strong>) and a willingness to (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">seek restoration<\/span><\/strong>) with God, even if it means facing judgment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cdistress\u201d- \u201cto be tied up, restricted, cramped.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">God\u2019s hand was swift and terrible. But equally swift was His (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mercy<\/span><\/strong>). [vv.14-15] And true to David\u2019s heart, when he saw what was happening, he fell on his face before God and (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">assumed all blame<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3 lessons we can learn:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">1. To live an unaccountable life is to (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">flirt with danger<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">2. To ignore sin\u2019s consequences is to (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">reject God\u2019s truth<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">3. To fail to take God seriously is to (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to deny His lordship<\/span><\/strong>) in our lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">WHAT WILL YOU HAVE ENGRAVED ON YOUR TOMBSTONE??<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NEXT WEEK: What Makes Us Tick?
