BRINGS UNITY (I Cor. 1-4, 8-14))<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">One very powerful truth flows through I Corinthians: Paul\u2019s desire for (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>unity<\/strong><\/span>). Unity is not (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>uniformity<\/strong><\/span>). Uniformity is (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>outward<\/strong><\/span>); unity is (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>inward<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">He called them to forsake (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>divisions<\/strong><\/span>) because God is (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>one<\/strong><\/span>). He called them to forsake (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>sin<\/strong><\/span>) because God is (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>holy<\/strong><\/span>). He called them forsake (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>selfishness<\/strong><\/span>) because God is (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>loving<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>II. BRINGS RESURRECTION (15)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u201cThe most attested to fact in history\u201d (McDowell)<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>III. BRINGS CLARITY (2 Cor. 1-9)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">We saw earlier the problems plaguing the Corinthian church. The letter did not solve the problem. Another problem arose: (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>false teachers<\/strong><\/span>). Paul wrote this letter defending his (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>apostleship<\/strong><\/span>) against the false teachers, but also gave instructions on (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>how to face them<\/strong><\/span>) head<br \/>\non.<br \/>\nMy dream for OVCF: a church (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>united<\/strong><\/span>), one that (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>stands firm<\/strong><\/span>) on the Gospel and the resurrection<br \/>\nof Jesus, and offers (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>clarity<\/strong><\/span>) in an often confused world.
