I. SETTING THE SCENE<\/strong><\/h4>\n

By instruction and example Jesus instituted two ordinances: (baptism<\/strong><\/span>) and the (Lord\u2019s Supper<\/strong><\/span>). These ordinances are not (electives<\/strong><\/span>). They are for all who believe in Jesus and want to follow Him faithfully.<\/p>\n

              1. Scene #1: Jesus with His disciples in the (Upper Room<\/strong><\/span>). (Mt. 26) They are celebrating the (Feast of Passover<\/strong><\/span>) and the (Feast of Unleavened Bread<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n
              2. Scene #2: Paul and the church at (Corinth<\/strong><\/span>). (I Cor. 11) Paul is not (praising<\/strong><\/span>) them but (chastising<\/strong><\/span>) them. The word divisions<\/em> is the word (schisms<\/strong><\/span>) which literally means a tearing<\/em> or cutting<\/em>. The factions were so strong, they were not only (disruptive<\/strong><\/span>), but also (destructive<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                II. FINDING THE MEANING<\/strong><\/h4>\n

                In Matthew\u2019s account many misunderstand \u201cThis is my body\u201d and \u201cThis is my blood.\u201d It is not to be taken literally but to realize the bread (represents His body) and the wine (represents His own blood).<\/p>\n

                Breaking down I Corinthians 11:<\/p>\n

                            3. The (plea<\/strong><\/span>) is found in verses 28-30.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
