\u00a0I.\u00a0 BECAUSE THERE IS A WAR GOING ON<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Karl Marx once called religion \u201cthe opium of the masses.\u2019<\/p>\n

Some crutches people use to cope;<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. (Escapism<\/span><\/strong>)<\/li>\n
  2. (Cynicism<\/span><\/strong>)<\/li>\n
  3. (Humanism<\/span>)<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. (Supernaturalism<\/span>)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Two myths people have:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. The Bible is (too difficult<\/span><\/strong>) to understand.<\/li>\n
    2. The Bible is (boring<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      II.\u00a0 BECAUSE THERE IS A WAY TO DEFEND<\/h4>\n

       <\/p>\n

      The Bible is indispensable to the Christian faith, if you attempt to follow Jesus without it, you\u2019re not going to get very far.<\/p>\n

      Three truths that need highlighted from verse 16:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. \u201cbreathed out by God\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 See also 2 Peter 1: 19-21- p.1018<\/li>\n
      2. \u201call\u201d<\/li>\n
      3. \u201cScripture\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        What is the Word of God profitable for?<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. (Teaching<\/span><\/strong>)- refers specifically to divine instruction, or doctrine.<\/li>\n
        2. Reproof- carries the idea of rebuking in order to (correct misconduct<\/span><\/strong>) or false doctrine.<\/li>\n
        3. (Correction<\/span><\/strong>)- After exposing false teaching, Scripture then (builds up<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n
        4. (Training<\/span><\/strong>) in righteousness- Insight into truth, but also building up.<\/li>\n
        5. Competent and equipped- take on (challenges<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          A few miscellaneous thoughts:<\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Don\u2019t just read the Bible; let the Bible read you.<\/li>\n
          2. Don\u2019t just read the Bible; let your mind and heart dwell on it.<\/li>\n
          3. We need to accept the Bible as the final authority.<\/li>\n
          4. We need to make the Bible part of our daily diet.<\/li>\n
          5. Practice it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
