I.\u00a0 WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bible speaks of \u201cair.\u201d\u00a0 In the OT it is ruach; in the NT is is pneuma.\u00a0 Sometimes it is translated \u201cbreath\u201d or wind.\u201d\u00a0 Sometimes translated \u201cspirit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who is the Holy Spirit?\u00a0 What He is NOT<\/b>.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The Holy Spirit is not an (\u201cIT\u201d<\/span><\/strong>), but a distinctive personality.<\/li>\n
  2. The Holy Spirit is not (passive<\/span><\/strong>), but active and involved.<\/li>\n
  3. The Holy Spirit is not (imaginary<\/span><\/strong>), but real and relevant.<\/li>\n
  4. The Holy Spirit is not a (substitute for God<\/span><\/strong>), but He is deity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Think: the third member of the Godhead, the invisible, yet all-powerful representation of His deity, is actually living inside you.\u00a0 He (indwells<\/span><\/strong>) you.\u00a0 He is God\u2019s (power<\/span><\/strong>) in you.\u00a0 He is God\u2019s (Presence<\/span><\/strong>) within you.<\/p>\n

    II.\u00a0\u00a0 WHAT DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT DO?<\/h4>\n

    Please turn to John16: 7-11 (p.902)<\/p>\n

    The word convict is a legal term that means to pronounce a judicial verdict by which the guilt is defined.<\/p>\n

    1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He convicts the world concerning (sin<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

    2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He convicts the world concerning (righteousness<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

    3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He convicts the world concerning (judgment<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

    What does the Spirit do for followers of Christ?<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. The HS not only takes the Scriptures and makes them clear, but He takes the circumstances in which we find ourselves and He gives us insights into them.<\/li>\n
    2. He (baptizes<\/span><\/strong>) us.\u00a0 I Cor.12:13<\/li>\n
    3. He (fills<\/span><\/strong>) us.\u00a0\u00a0 Eph.5:18<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
