I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A BLATANT REBEL AND HIS LOVING FATHER<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Don\u2019t use the word prodigal very much these days.\u00a0 The NKJV says, \u201cHe wasted his possessions with prodigal living.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greek word carries more than wastefulness.\u00a0 Very strong overtones of promiscuity and moral debauchery.<\/p>\n

His disrespect for his father is evident:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. His disregard for his inheritance was (extremely inappropriate<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n
  2. His (dishonor<\/span><\/strong>) for his father was the most disturbing of all.<\/li>\n
  3. The demand for his birthright was (calloused and cold<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \n

    The father\u2019s actions show he was a (loving father<\/span><\/strong>), not a (tyrant<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE HIDDEN REBEL AND HIS INSIGHTFUL FATHER<\/h4>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Basically, there are two types of sinners:<\/p>\n

    1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The straightforward kind who don\u2019t really care who sees and knows<\/p>\n

    2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The silent type who prefer to sin when they think no one is looking.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0Both are a form of (pride<\/span><\/strong>).\u00a0 The first is pride in (self<\/span><\/strong>) and the other is pride in a form of (hypocrisy<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

    \u00a0Most obvious characteristic is (resentment<\/span><\/strong>) for his younger brother.\u00a0 But underneath that, and even more telling, is his (smoldering hatred<\/span><\/strong>) for his father.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0How is this hitting the Pharisees? They thought they (had it all together<\/span><\/strong>), when in reality they were as far off as the (younger brother<\/span><\/strong>).\u00a0 They were fooling no one, except (themselves<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n
