\u201cThe tendency to turn human judgments into divine commands makes religion one of the most dangerous forces in the world.\u201d\u00a0 Craig Groeschel in Soul Detox<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWe may spend our days in what we call our religious duties, and we may fill our devotions with fervor, and still may be miserable.\u00a0 Nothing can set our hearts at rest but a real acquaintance with God.\u201d\u00a0 Andrew Farley in The Naked Gospel<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. THE BAD NEWS<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    \u201cThe thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.\u00a0 I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly.\u201d John 10:10<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    \u201cI have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.\u201d\u00a0 Luke 5:32<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Christianity is not intended to make us (religious<\/span>) or to be one of the (world\u2019s major religions<\/span>).\u00a0 It is supposed to be a (relationship<\/span>) with the one, true, living God.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Following religion leads to two toxic problems:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Religion leads you to focus on the (external<\/span>) rather than the (internal<\/span>).<\/li>\n
    2. Rules-following religious people believe their (behavior and beliefs<\/span>) are right and everyone else is wrong.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Being converted to Jesus is not just learning to obey (some rules<\/span>).\u00a0 Being converted to Jesus is learning to so (adore God<\/span>) we would gladly renounce everything we have to follow Him.<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

        \n
      1. THE GOOD NEWS<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Religion can tell you what do; the gospel gives you the (power<\/span>) to do it.<\/p>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Why is it easy for people to honor God with their lips and not their heart?\u00a0\u00a0 Tradition requires no (integrity of heart<\/span>) and is easily substituted for true (worship and obedience<\/span>).<\/p>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Turn to Romans 3:20-22.\u00a0 Some important points:<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. You cannot earn God\u2019s acceptance by (observing the Law<\/span>).<\/li>\n
        2. The purpose of the Law is to show (you need a Savior<\/span>).<\/li>\n
        3. Righteousness from God comes by (faith<\/span>) in Christ alone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

           <\/p>\n

          To sum up: Religion = Christ + anything.\u00a0 Gospel= Christ + nothing.<\/p>\n

          Religion is all about what I do.\u00a0\u00a0 Gospel is all about what Jesus has done.<\/p>\n

          Religion is all about me.\u00a0 Gospel is all about Jesus.<\/p>\n

          Religion highlights my efforts.\u00a0 Gospel highlights what Christ has done.<\/p>\n

          Religion puts the burden on us.\u00a0 Gospel put the burden on Him & what He did.<\/p>\n

           <\/p>\n
