Paul says to \u201ccontinue steadfastly in prayer.\u201d\u00a0 Others say \u201cdevote yourselves.\u201d\u00a0 But both short-change the real meaning.\u00a0 It literally means \u201cto be (courageously persistent<\/span><\/strong>)\u201d or \u201cto hold fast and not let go.\u201d<\/p>\n

There are two thoughts he brings to the church about prayer:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Pray with (earnestness<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n
  2. Pray with (thanksgiving<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Paul makes a specific request:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. He wants to declare the (mystery of Christ<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n
    2. He wants them to pray for an (open door<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
