I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE REPUTATION \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Two main thrusts appear in this story:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The transformed life of the sinful woman<\/li>\n
  2. Jesus evangelizing the Pharisee<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \n

    There are several back stories here:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Social mores of the Near East.<\/li>\n
    2. The reputation of the sinful woman and her act of worship.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \n

      What was she thinking? She was a (sinner<\/span><\/strong>); He a (rabbi<\/span><\/strong>). Jesus was her (last hope<\/span><\/strong>).\u00a0 But grace begins where (pride ends<\/span><\/strong>). When we are broken and admit we are, (God is there<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

      \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE RESTORATION\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

       <\/p>\n

      This woman\u2019s act offended Simon because he was (overly prudish<\/strong>)<\/span> or (hyper-religious<\/span><\/strong>). But there is a bigger reason: grace offends because it is (offensive<\/span><\/strong>). \u00a0Grace does not depend on the (loveliness<\/span><\/strong>) of the other person.<\/p>\n

      \n

      What about Simon?<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Why did he invite Jesus to his house?<\/li>\n
      2. Simon\u2019s life was to be set on its ear by his (encounter with Jesus<\/span><\/strong>).<\/li>\n
      3. The real miracle is Jesus had a love for this (self-righteous hypocrite<\/span><\/strong>)..<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        \n

        One of the hardest things for us to wrap our minds and heart around is the (unconditional love<\/span><\/strong>) of God.<\/p>\n
