TITLE: They Live Godly Lives<\/h2>\n

TEXT: Eph.4:25-5:4 (p.978)<\/h2>\n

I. SPEECH THAT IS (WHOLESOME)<\/p>\n

\u201cPut aside all anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from their mouth.\u201d Col.3:8<\/p>\n

\u201cLord, help me control my tongue; help me be careful about what I say.\u201d Ps.141:3 (NCV)<\/p>\n

\u201cSet a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.\u201d Ps.141:3 (ESV & NIV)<\/p>\n

What kind of speech should that be?<\/p>\n

1. Words that (build up).<\/p>\n

2. According to (needs)<\/p>\n

3. Words that are (gracious). \u201cLet you speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt.\u201d Col.4:6<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

II. ATTITUDES THAT ARE (WELCOME)<\/p>\n

1. (Bitterness)- a smoldering resentment<\/p>\n

2. (Wrath)- passion of the moment<\/p>\n

3. (Anger)- more of an internal smoldering<\/p>\n

4. (Clamor)- brawling, loss of control<\/p>\n

5. (Slander)- defamation of one\u2019s character<\/p>\n

6. (Malice)- general term for evil<\/p>\n

Two attitudes that are welcome:<\/p>\n

1. Tenderhearted<\/p>\n

2. Forgiving one another<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

III. CHARACTER THAT IS (WITNESSED)<\/p>\n

These must be dealt with:<\/p>\n

1) Immorality- porneia<\/p>\n

2) Impurity- anything that is unclean and filthy<\/p>\n

3) Covetousness (Greed)-a desire for more<\/p>\n

4) Filthiness- obscenity. Paul used the phrase \u201cdirty speech\u201d<\/p>\n

5) Foolish talk- gutter mouth<\/p>\n

6) Crude joking- something turned obscene or suggestive<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
