I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE DISCUSSION<\/strong><\/h4>\n

If there was any one group clinging to religion it was the (Pharisees<\/strong><\/span>). Steeped in (traditions and rules<\/strong><\/span>) they saw themselves as the last bastion of defense against the liberalism of the (Sadducees<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Pharisees were an off-shoot of Hasidim, which means (pious ones<\/strong><\/span>). They opposed (Hellenization<\/strong><\/span>) of Jewish culture.<\/p>\n

Jesus went straight to the heart of the issue: the (transformation<\/strong><\/span>) of Nic\u2019s heart by the new birth.<\/p>\n

God\u2019s salvation is not a matter of adding something to all his efforts, not topping off his religious devotion with whipped cream, but rather (cancelling<\/strong><\/span>) everything and (starting over<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Water and spirit are often referred symbolically in the OT to spiritual renewal and cleansing. [See Ezekiel 36:24-27 for an example]<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE DECLARATION<\/strong><\/h4>\n

They were not told to fight the serpents\u2026make an offering\u2026pray\u2026or even look to Moses. All that was required was a simple look of faith to the raised serpent.<\/p>\n

Since he has no needs, you cannot tire Him. Since He is without age, you cannot lose Him. Since He has no sin, you cannot corrupt Him.<\/p>\n

Scripture abounds in verses backing up John 3:16. Check out Deut.10:15: \u201cThe Lord chose your ancestors as the objects of His love.\u201d (NLT)<\/p>\n
