Scripture: John 8:12-20
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em>Light always defeats darkness.\u00a0<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE LIGHT OF HISTORY<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jesus and His disciples had just finished celebrating the (Feast of Tabernacles<\/strong><\/span>). That feast was to commemorate the (faithfulness of God<\/strong><\/span>) to the Israelites during their 40 year trek in the wilderness. Reference in Exodus 13:21-22.<\/p>\n

Lights were lit at the feat to represent the (pillar of cloud<\/strong><\/span>) and the (pillar of fire<\/strong><\/span>) during their journey.<\/p>\n

Jesus is the fulfillment of (all the lights<\/strong><\/span>) used in the history of Judaism.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE LIGHT OF HIS STORY<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Saying I AM the Light of the world Jesus making some pretty strong claims:<\/p>\n

1. He was (claiming to be God<\/strong><\/span>). \u201cThe sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light, but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your Glory.\u201d Is.60:19<\/p>\n

2. He is claiming to be (Israel\u2019s Messiah<\/strong><\/span>), sent by God as the \u201clight to the nations.\u201d Is.42:6<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cTo the darkness of falsehood He is the light of truth; to the darkness of ignorance He is the light of wisdom; to the darkness of sin He is the light of holiness; to the darkness of sorrow He is the light of joy; and to the darkness of death He is the light of life.\u201d John MacArthur<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He is the \u201cLight of the World.\u201d What does that mean\/<\/p>\n

1. Following the Light of the World brings (obedience<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2. Following the Light of the World brings (clarity<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3. Following the Light of the World means (believing<\/strong><\/span>). \u201cI have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me many not remain in darkness.\u201d John 12:46<\/p>\n
