One of the most serious problems facing the church in Paul\u2019s day was the problem of legalism\u2026Legalism wrenches the joy of the Lord from the Christian believer, and with his joy goes his power for vital worship and vital service.\u201d S. I.\u00a0\u00a0 REBELS WHO TAKE AWAY FREEDOM<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Two terms you must know:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Liberty is (freedom<\/span><\/strong>)<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Legalism- An attitude that is law-like in nature. It uses (guilt<\/span><\/strong>) as a motivation.<\/p>\n

Nothing you can ever do can cause Him to love you (less<\/span><\/strong>); nothing you can do can ever cause Him to love you (more<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Can grace be taken advantage of? Yes. But the key is not to add legalism to grace-not to impose stricter rules or laws. Rather, the solution is to be so gripped by the (magnificence<\/span><\/strong>) and (boundless generosity<\/span><\/strong>) of God\u2019s grace that we respond out of gratitude rather than a sense of duty.<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 THE REBEL WHO FOUGHT BACK FOR FREEDOM \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jesus fought back against those who would take freedom. Freedom threatened their (leverage<\/span><\/strong>) and (control<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Jesus did not come to modify (The Law<\/span><\/strong>) or the modify (Pharisaism<\/span><\/strong>); he came to be bring a whole new way of thinking, believing, and living.<\/p>\n
