I. \u00a0 TRUST IN DEATH \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Major question: What will be your final words?<\/p>\n

\n

John 10:17-18 records Jesus saying, \u201cI lay down my life.\u201d\u00a0 Make no mistake! This was not a (surprise<\/strong><\/span>). This was not a (defeat<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

When Jesus died on the cross, it was not a wrenching struggle against His killers. He didn\u2019t display any frenzied death throes. His death was a deliberate act of His own sovereign will.<\/p>\n

\n

The saying, \u201cFather, into your hands\u2026\u201d is lifted from Psalm 31:5. There are several differences though:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He adds something to it: (Father<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He omits something at the end: He omits the reference to (ransom<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 Why? Because He had no need for it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 TRIUMPH IN RESURRECTION \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

There have been theories advanced to dismiss the resurrection:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The swoon theory- Our faith is based on a (mistake<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The kidnap theory- Our faith is based on a (lie<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The hallucination theory- Our faith is based on a (fairy tale<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

Purpose not to defend event. Present to you why so important:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Absolutely essential to believe in the resurrection.\u00a0 \u201cIf Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins\u2026If for this life only we had hoped in Christ, we are of all men most to be pitied.\u201d [I Cor.15:17,19]<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It has been called \u201cthe center of the center, the real heart of Christianity.\u201d<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Real hard truth: if Jesus did not raise from the dead, Christianity is not worth the paper it is written on.<\/p>\n

\n

Anyone who has truly, with an open heart, investigated the facts, cannot deny the resurrection.<\/p>\n
