I.\u00a0\u00a0 THE PROBLEM WITH GENTLENESS \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Somewhat difficult to define. It is often interchanged with (meekness<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\u201cBlessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth.\u201d Mt.5:5<\/p>\n

Twice Jesus described as meek in Mt.11:29 and 21:5<\/p>\n

Paul uses it in 2 Cor.10:1<\/p>\n

A good way to define this is (power under control<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 One author put it this way; \u201cYielded to God we are able to harness the natural powers of our personality. We subject self-gratification to self-denial. Self-exaltation to humility; selfishness to selflessness.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is a (humble and gentle<\/strong><\/span>) attitude that is patiently submissive, while being free of any desire for revenge or retribution.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 THE PROOF OF GENTLENESS \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Example #1: Turn to Isaiah 40. (p.600). One interesting item: as Isaiah is writing about God\u2019s power and majesty, he is also writing about God\u2019s (tenderness<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 Further reference: Psalm 18:35<\/p>\n

Example #2: 2 Corinthians 10:1. Paul uses (Jesus<\/strong><\/span>) as an example.<\/p>\n

Example #3: (Treating others<\/strong><\/span>) with gentleness<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do people find me a safe place?<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How do I present myself to others?<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do I degrade or belittle or gossip about others?<\/p>\n
