I.\u00a0\u00a0 THE IMPORTANCE OF SELF-CONTROL \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Self-control is (the governing of one\u2019s desires<\/u><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

James 1:14-15\u201dBut each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.\u201d<\/p>\n

Temptation is not dangerous because it in (external<\/u><\/strong>). It is dangerous because of the desire (within our heart<\/u><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

The Greek word for self-control refers to (restraining passions and appetites<\/u><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 THE INCLUSION OF SELF-CONTROL<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThe end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret, whether good or evil.\u201d Eccl.12:13-14<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 We need to honor God with our (body<\/strong><\/u>). \u201cAll things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful.\u201d \u201cEverything is permissible for me-but I will not be mastered by anything.\u201d (NIV) I Cor.6:12 (both)<\/p>\n

2. We need to honor God with our (thoughts<\/u><\/strong>). 2 Cor.10:3-5 (p.969)<\/p>\n

3. We need to honor God with our (emotions<\/u><\/strong>). \u201cA controlled temper is to be more sought than a decisive victory in war.\u201d Pr.16:32<\/p>\n
