I.\u00a0\u00a0 A SNAPSHOT OF ME\/YOU\/US \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

This parable revolves<\/strong> around three characters: the (younger<\/strong><\/span>) son, the (father<\/strong><\/span>), and the (older<\/strong><\/span>) son.<\/p>\n

The younger son is cast as a scoundrel but the ending is a twist. The main idea behind the word prodigal is wastefulness, immoderation, excess, and debauchery.<\/p>\n

What did this younger son do?<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He had a (disregard<\/strong><\/span>) for his inheritance.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He (dishonored<\/strong><\/span>) his father.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He (demanded<\/strong><\/span>) his birthright.<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 A SNAPSHOT OF GOD \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>

What the son found- what the Pharisees found was two-fold:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An (approachable<\/strong><\/span>) father.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The (reaction<\/strong><\/span>) of the father.<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He (ran<\/strong><\/span>) and (embraced<\/strong><\/span>) him.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He (kissed<\/strong><\/span>) him.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He gave him a (robe).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He gave him a (ring<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He gave him (sandals<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

6)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He threw a (feast<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Something really important happened here: (adoption<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 \u201cTo be right with God the Judge is a great thing, but to be loved and cared for by God the Father is greater.\u201d J.I.Packer in Knowing God.<\/p>\n
