\u201cTo know Jonah is to love him. And the reason we loe him is because he is so much like us in our response to God\u2019s guidance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jonah is also found in 2 Kings 14.<\/p>\n

\n

God wants Jonah to go to Ninevah. It is one thing to (pronounce judgement<\/strong><\/span>) against a city; it is another to go to that city and preach (repentance<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

Old African minstrel song: \u201cJonah was a fool and as stubborn as a mule.\u201d<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE DELIVERANCE OF A RUNNER \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Interesting observation about Jonah\u2019s prayer:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In desperation, he prays like David: \u201cI called out to the Lord.\u201d Ps.34:6<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In desperation, he prays like Hannah: \u201cOut of my distress.\u201d I Sam.1:10<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In desperation, he prays like Jeremiah: \u201cI am driven away from your sight.\u201d Lam.3:54-56<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In desperation, he prays like Jesus: \u201cIn agony he prayed.\u201d Lk.22:44<\/p>\n

\n

Jonah reluctant to do what God wanted. Why? (prejudiced<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Glimpse into God\u2019s amazing grace:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God doesn\u2019t hold (grudges<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God doesn\u2019t (budge<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God doesn\u2019t (give up<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n
