I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE INDICTMENT OF THE JUDGE \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Laodicea holds the distinction of being the only church which Jesus (has absolutely nothing good to say<\/strong><\/span>). Even Sardis, the church on its deathbed, had a few people who were faithful.<\/p>\n

Some adjectives used to describe Laodicea: sentimental, skin-deep, flabby, anemic, proud, secular and self-sufficient, mediocre, inoffensive, to name a few.<\/p>\n

What made Laodicea the wealthy city it was?<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was a center of (trade<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was a center of (banking<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was a center of (fashion<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was a center of (medicine<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was a center of a large (Jewish population<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

What was wrong with them? They were (lukewarm<\/strong><\/span>). The words are vivid. The word used for cold is literally (icy cold<\/strong><\/span>). The word used for hot is (boiling<\/strong><\/span>). \u201cWould that\u201d is the word \u201cwish\u201d It expresses (fruitless desire<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE ACTION THE JUDGE REQUIRES \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

He tells them three things they needed to \u201cbuy\u201d:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They needed to buy gold (refined by fire<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They needed to buy (white garments<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They needed to buy (salve<\/strong><\/span>) to anoint their eyes.<\/p>\n

If there is anything positive it is this: \u201cThose whom I love, I (reprove and discipline<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n
