I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NAME THAT PRISON \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Difference between shame and guilt. We feel guilty for (what we do). We feel shame for (what we are<\/strong><\/span>). \u00a0A person feel guilty because he did something wrong. A person feels shame because he is something wrong.<\/p>\n

\n

How do we get ourselves into this prison of shame?\u00a0 (Repeat from last week)<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We (compare ourselves<\/strong><\/span>) to others.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We weigh (the good with the bad<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIf the biggest sinner you know isn\u2019t you, then you don\u2019t know yourself very well.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.\u201d (I Tim.1:15)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BEING RELEASED FROM PRISON \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We experience the grace of God on one of four levels:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We experience grace as (pardon<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We experience grace as (acceptance<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We experience grace as (power<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We experience grace as (gratitude<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

Dangerous lies we tell ourselves: (From Born Free by Steve Brown)<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m not in any pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI must accept it.\u201d<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI deserve this pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI can\u2019t get out of here!\u201d<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m all alone in this pain.\u201d<\/p>\n
