There are 4 words we need to be familiar with:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Knowledge<\/strong><\/span>)-\u00a0 Refers to information or truth.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Wisdom<\/strong><\/span>)- Skill<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Insight<\/strong><\/span>)- Ability to look beyond the obvious<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Proverb<\/strong><\/span>)- Brief statement of wisdom<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 PURSUING WISDOM \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>

Two goals in Proverbs:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Deep character<\/strong><\/span>) \u201cTo know wisdom and insight\u201d<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Straight thinking<\/strong><\/span>) \u201cTo understand words of insight\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

What is wisdom?<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is the knowledge of (good and evil<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is (discernment<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 \u201cDiscernment is not knowing the difference between right and wrong. It is knowing the difference between right and almost right.\u201d Spurgeon<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is (obtaining guidance<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

The theme of Proverbs is 1:7.\u00a0 Proverbs 9:10 amplifies it. \u201cThe fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy one is insight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThe Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.\u201d And his delight will be in the fear of the Lord.\u201d Is.11:2-3<\/p>\n
