Simple breakdown of the book of Jonah:<\/p>\n

Chapter 1- Running from God<\/p>\n

Chapter 2- Running to God<\/p>\n

Chapter 3- Running with God<\/p>\n

Chapter 4- Running ahead of God<\/p>\n

I. THE PROPHET\u2019S CALL<\/p>\n

\u201cTo know Jonah is to love him. And the reason we love him is because he is to much like us in our response to God\u2019s guidance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jonah first mentioned in 2 Kings 14:25 (p.321)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Prophet during reign of Jeroboam II.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Mortal enemies of Israelites were the (Assyrians).<\/p>\n

\u2022 From Gath-hepher, town in Galilee, three miles from (Nazareth).<\/p>\n

Called to go to Ninevah, the \u201cgreat city\u201d of the (Assyrians).<\/p>\n

II. THE PROPHET\u2019S REBELLION<\/p>\n

Several truths emerge from this chapter\/story:<\/p>\n

1. You cannot (outrun) God.<\/p>\n

2. God\u2019s (mercy) is massive.<\/p>\n

3. The storm isn\u2019t (punishment); it\u2019s an (intervention).<\/p>\n
