What is Asaph\u2019s problem? You can\u2019t read this without seeing his depth of (disillusionment<\/strong><\/span>). The lens of his eye is clouded by personal (resentment<\/strong><\/span>) and (confusion<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s dissect verses 1-14:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Verse 1: (God is good<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Verse 2: (But as for me<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Verses 2-3: the prosperity of the (wicked<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Verses 4-11: the wicked seem<\/strong> <\/em>to get away with things<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Verse 12: Summary- \u201cthis is what the wicked are like.\u201d<\/p>\n

6)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Verses 13-14: Faulty conclusion- (What\u2019s the use?<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 THE UPWARD ASCENT \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>

\u201cLife must be lived forward-unfortunately it can only be understood backward.\u201d<\/p>\n

His turning point is seen in verses 16-17: Asaph found himself in the (presence of God<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Three main areas where Asaph changes his thinking:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A new awareness of the (destiny of the wicked<\/strong><\/span>). [18-20]<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A new awareness of (himself<\/strong><\/span>). [21-22]<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A new awareness of (God\u2019s presence<\/strong><\/span>). [23-26]<\/p>\n
