I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 HIS HEART FOR HIS MOTHER \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A typical Jewish man in Jesus\u2019 day wore five pieces of clothing: A (headpiece<\/span><\/strong>); (Sandals<\/span><\/strong>); an (outer<\/strong> garment<\/strong><\/span>); a (girdle<\/span><\/strong>); and (undergarment<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u201cBehold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.\u201d\u00a0 Lk.2:34-35<\/p>\n

Jesus\u2019 words show his (love and honor<\/span><\/strong>) for His mother, but also an incredible amount of (forgiveness<\/strong><\/span>) for John.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 HIS HURT FOR HIS FATHER<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Jesus was dying as a substitute for others. All our sin was put on Him. All the punishment for our sins was put on His shoulders. The very essence of that was an outpouring of God\u2019s (wrath<\/strong><\/span>), something Jesus has (never<\/strong><\/span>) experienced before.\u00a0 And in this lies the true meaning of the cross. The word used is (atonement<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\u201cFor our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.\u201d 2 Cor.5:21<\/p>\n

\u201cChrist has redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us.\u201d The $2 word for that act is (propitiation<\/strong><\/span>). It speaks of an offering made to satisfy God.<\/p>\n
