History: the image was 60 cubits (90 feet<\/strong><\/span>) tall and 6 cubits (9 feet<\/strong><\/span>) wide.\u00a0 The LXX (Septuagint<\/strong><\/span>) says Neb built this the 18th year of his reign\u202616 years after Daniel\u2019s interpretation of his dream.<\/p>\n

The fact they were not only commanded to bow down before the image but also to worship indicates more to this than worship. It indicates Neb now saw himself as a (god<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 THE FIERY TEST \u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The charge against the 3 Hebrew boys was (treason<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

The response of Neb was fast and furious:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Furious rage<\/strong><\/span>)- v.13<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gives them (another chance<\/strong><\/span>) but then challenges any other god.<\/p>\n

\n

Their response is classic. It is one thing to believe God is able to come through, but they went even further with 4 words: (but even if not<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

What can we learn from this event?<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God is (sovereign<\/strong><\/span>), whether the result of our obedience is triumph or tragedy.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Suffering is (necessary<\/strong><\/span>), whether it seems fair or not.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Deliverance<\/strong><\/span>) makes an impression on both the righteous and unrighteous.<\/p>\n
