TITLE: To the Tolerant Church<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\nI.\u00a0\u00a0 THE COMMENDATION OF THE CHURCH<\/h4>\n

This is the only letter, and the only place in Revelation, that mentions the title of Jesus as (the Son of God<\/strong><\/span>). By using it Jesus immediately establishes His (authority<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

The church was commended for three qualities:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For their (works<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For their (love, faith, service and patient endurance<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For their (latter works<\/strong><\/span>) which exceeded the (first<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 THE CONDEMNATION OF THE CHURCH \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

While He points out their love, faith, service and patient endurance there is no mention of (sound doctrine<\/strong><\/span>) here.<\/p>\n

The church in Thyatira was an immoral cesspool. Their problem? They tolerated (Jezebel<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

How did she seduce this church?<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 One possibility is by using (Gnosticism<\/strong><\/span>). This taught that the physical universe was (evil<\/strong><\/span>) while the spiritual world was (good<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Another possibility could be (antinomianism<\/strong><\/span>). This is a combination of two words: anti which means \u201cno\u201d and nomianism which mean \u201claw.\u201d<\/p>\n
