{"id":8725,"date":"2020-01-12T14:00:15","date_gmt":"2020-01-12T19:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ovcf.org\/ovcf_wp\/?p=8725"},"modified":"2020-01-12T14:00:15","modified_gmt":"2020-01-12T19:00:15","slug":"mercy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ovcf.org\/ovcf_wp\/2020\/01\/mercy\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>THEME: TRUTH<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>TITLE: Mercy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2>Scripture:\u00a0 2 Cor. 4:1<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE MERCY OF GOD EXPLAINED \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">We are real good at (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>complaining<\/strong><\/span>); not so hot on (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>gratitude<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Grace is getting (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>what I don\u2019t deserve<\/strong><\/span>); mercy is not getting (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>what I do deserve<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">We are not in this thing called faith or the Christian life because (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>we are good<\/strong><\/span>). We aren\u2019t in it because of our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>(proficiency)<\/strong><\/span> or our (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>wit<\/strong><\/span>) or our (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>aptitude<\/strong><\/span>). We aren\u2019t in it because we are (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>more righteous<\/strong><\/span>) than someone else. We have been shown incredible mercy by a merciful God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Please turn to I Timothy 1:12-16<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE MERCY OF GOD EXTENDED<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">We are not meant to control our (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Christianity<\/strong><\/span>); Christianity is meant (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>to control us<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Hebrew word for mercy-\u201cto give help to the wretched, to rescue the miserable.\u201d\u00a0 The Greek word comes from the word which means benefactor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">What does God\u2019s mercy do for us?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God\u2019s mercy (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>brings us peace<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God\u2019s mercy means (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>He has compassion for us<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 Is.49:13: \u201cFor the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God\u2019s mercy is (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>displayed through us<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God\u2019s mercy has (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>an end<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NEXT WEEK: \u00a0\u00a0Theme: Truth \/ Series: Faithful<\/p>\n<p>Title: Setting the Standard- 2 Cor. 4:2; Mt. 5:8; 23:25-28<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THEME: TRUTH TITLE: Mercy Scripture:\u00a0 2 Cor. 4:1 &nbsp; I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE MERCY OF GOD EXPLAINED \u00a0\u00a0 We are real good at (complaining); not so hot on (gratitude).
