I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WHY CAN I TRUST THE BIBLE? \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We don\u2019t have good answers to that question:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We appeal to our (upbringing<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We appeal to our (personal transformation<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

Bare bones reasons why we can trust the Bible:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because of its (reliable history<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 2 Peter 1:16: \u201cFor we did not follow cleverly disguised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our LJC, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.\u201d<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because it was written by (eyewitnesses<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 I John 1:1-3<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because of its (verifiable claims<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because of its (fulfilled prophecies<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0 WHAT CAN I DO WITH THE BIBLE? \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Turn to 1 Cor.4:11-13<\/p>\n

Turn to 2 Cor.11:24-28<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most urgent need of the Christian Church today is true preaching; and as it is the greatest and most urgent need in the church, it is the greatest need of the world also.\u201d Lloyd-Jones<\/p>\n

\u201cOur problem in this country is not a lack of Bibles; it is a lack of people who carefully handle the Word of God, both privately and publicly.\u201d<\/p>\n

4 ideas of what the Bible can do for us:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is our source of (truth and freedom<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is a guide to (His will<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is our (way to grow<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is a (pruning knife<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n
