I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CELEBRATING THE PAST\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The author of the book: (Paul<\/strong><\/span>) with a little bit of help from (Timothy<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

More importantly: Why the book?\u00a0 Jesus Christ is sufficient as our (Lord<\/strong><\/span>), our (Life<\/strong><\/span>), and our (Leader<\/strong><\/span>). It appears the young believers at Colossae still lacked the deep-rooted, mature faith in the (sufficiency of the person and work of Christ<\/strong><\/span>) that would enable them to stand against the onslaught of (worldly philosophies<\/strong><\/span>) and (man-made religions<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\nII.\u00a0\u00a0 CELEBRATING THE PRESENT\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

What does Paul celebrate?<\/p>\n

1. There is a celebration of (joy<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 He calls them \u201csaints and faithful brothers in Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. There is a celebration of (thanksgiving<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 He gives us sort of an \u201capostolic shorthand\u201d for genuine Christianity.<\/p>\n

1) He is thankful for their (faith<\/strong><\/span>) in verses 3-4a.
\n2) He is thankful for their (love<\/strong><\/span>) in verse 4.
\n3) He is thankful for this (hope<\/strong><\/span>) in verse 5.<\/p>\n

3. There is a celebration of (the gospel<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n
