It appears the young believers at Colossae still lacked the deep-rooted, mature faith in the (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>sufficiency of the person and work of Christ<\/strong><\/span>) that would enable them to stand against the onslaught of (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>worldly philosophies<\/strong><\/span>) and (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>man-made religions<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<h4>\n<strong>II.\u00a0\u00a0 CELEBRATING THE PRESENT\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">What does Paul celebrate?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">1. There is a celebration of (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>joy<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 He calls them \u201csaints and faithful brothers in Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">2. There is a celebration of (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>thanksgiving<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 He gives us sort of an \u201capostolic shorthand\u201d for genuine Christianity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 120px;\">1) He is thankful for their (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>faith<\/strong><\/span>) in verses 3-4a.<br \/>\n2) He is thankful for their (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>love<\/strong><\/span>) in verse 4.<br \/>\n3) He is thankful for this (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>hope<\/strong><\/span>) in verse 5.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">3.
