I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE VERY BAD NEWS \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Turn to Psalm 40: 1-3<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Graphic language in Romans 5<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cFor while we were still weak.\u201d (v.6) The word weak can also be translated (helpless<\/strong><\/span>). The Greek word means without strength<\/em>.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWhile we were still sinners.\u201d (v.8)<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWhile we were enemies.\u201d (v.10)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Those three words-weak, sinners, and enemies tell a story of total (lostness<\/strong><\/span>). We are not just as bad as we can be, but as bad off as we can be.<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE VERY, VERY GOOD NEWS \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

How did God respond to us?\u00a0 4 answers to this question.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He (loved<\/strong><\/span>) us. (v.8)<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He (justified<\/strong><\/span>) us. (v.9a)<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He (saved<\/strong><\/span>) us from the wrath of God. (v.9b)<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He (reconciled<\/strong><\/span>) us. (v.10)<\/p>\n
