Main idea in Proverbs commentary and worth knowing: Harmful words damage (relationships<\/span><\/strong>) and reveal a (heart out of tune<\/strong><\/span>) with Jesus.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe tongue holds the power of life and death.\u201d Pr.18:21<\/p>\n

\nII.\u00a0 WHAT OUR WORDS SHOULD SAY ABOUT US\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cThere is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.\u201d Pr.12:18<\/p>\n

\n\u201cGentle words are a tree of life, a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.\u201d Pr.15:4 (NLT)<\/p>\n

\n\u201cGracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.\u201d Pr.16:24<\/p>\n

\n\u201cA slip of the foot you may soon recover, but a slip of the tongue you may never get over.\u201d Ben Franklin<\/p>\n

\n

What should we realize about or words?<\/p>\n

1. There is (emotional power<\/strong><\/span>) in them. \u00a0 \u201cAnxiety in a man\u2019s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.\u201d Pr.12:25
\n2. There is (moral status<\/strong><\/span>) in them.\u00a0 \u201cLying lips are an abomination to the Lord.\u201d Pr.12:22\u00a0 Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars play close attention to slander.\u201d Pr.17:24
\n3. There are (limitations<\/strong><\/span>) to our words.\u00a0 \u201cDon\u2019t excuse yourself by saying, \u2018Look, we didn\u2019t know.\u2019 For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.\u201d<\/p>\n
