I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE UNSUNG HERO \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Joseph had two options:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He could (publicly shame her<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He could (divorce<\/strong><\/span>) her.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cFirst century folk knew every bit as well as we do that babies are produced by sexual intercourse. When, in Matthew\u2019s version of the story, Joseph heard about Mary\u2019s pregnancy, his problem arose not because he didn\u2019t know the facts of life, but because he did.\u201d (Wright)<\/p>\n

\n

One of Joseph\u2019s major strengths was he (listened<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

\n

We know this about Joseph:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was in the (lineage of David<\/strong><\/span>)<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He is (fulfilling Scripture<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He would have been a (pariah<\/strong><\/span>) among his own people.<\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE SECOND VIOLIN \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Mary was not looking for (prominence<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 This does tell us about her (simple faith<\/strong><\/span>) and her willingness to (say yes to God<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Some observations about Mary:\u00a0 (Tim Keller)<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mary responded (thoughtfully<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mary responded (gradually<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mary responded in (willing surrender<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n
