Over the past few years, diagnoses of major depression have skyrocketed, rising 33% from 2013-2016. The percentage of Americans who experience stress is 20 points higher than the global average.<\/p>\n

Why study Ecclesiastes?<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helps us ask the same questions people are asking today that they asked back then.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helps us worship the (one true God<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helps us live for God and (not for ourselves<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helps us to be honest about the (troubles of life<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE RIGHT PERSPECTIVE<\/h4>\n

The word vanity in the Hebrew refers to a breath or a vapor.<\/p>\n

The word gain (v.3) means profit or advantage.<\/p>\n

Three closing thoughts:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The constant lure of something better (tomorrow<\/strong><\/span>) (so we think) robs us of joy we are (offered today<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The desire to escape it often covers up the realization there are (consequences<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If God is left out, the future is (bleak<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n
