I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>THE PLACE OF WOMEN IN BIBLICAL CULTURE<\/h4>\n

Jewish culture did not look kindly on women.\u00a0 Marriage and family law favored (men over women<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

In Roman culture they were seen as (property<\/strong><\/span>) to be owned.<\/p>\n

The NT gives a different picture of them.\u00a0 Peter even references \u201cthe holy women in the old time.\u201d\u00a0 [See I Peter 3:5 for Peter\u2019s other thoughts).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE PLACE OF WOMEN IN JESUS\u2019 LIFE<\/h4>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Joanna<\/strong><\/span>) in Luke 8:3.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Picture of one who had it all but one thing: (peace of mind and soul<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0(Mary Magdalene<\/strong><\/span>) in Mark 16:9.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Picture of one whose life was (afflicted<\/strong><\/span>) and (out of control<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0(Mary<\/strong><\/span>) in Mt.27:56. Mark adds that she is the mother of James and Joseph.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Picture of one not swayed by others, not even family.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0(Salome<\/strong><\/span>) in Mark 15:40 (by name<\/strong><\/span>) and by inference in Mt. 27:61.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Picture of one who releases her child to follow Jesus and the hard path.<\/p>\n

What can we learn from these magnificent women?<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Joanna- true peace and contentment can only be found in Christ.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mary Magdalene- Jesus takes messes and makes them treasure.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mary- the strength of a family\u2019s love.<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Salome- Willingness to give up children to follow Jesus.<\/p>\n
