To one without faith, no explanation is possible.\u201d Thomas Aquinas<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\n<h4>I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE STORY UNFOLDING BEFORE OUR EYES<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Follows the Sermon on the Mount. Gives rise to the question every pastor asks: (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How are my words being applied?<\/span><\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The heart of the story: the centurion\u2019s concern (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>for his slave<\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0 This was far from the norm. Scholars estimate that (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>50%<\/strong><\/span>) of the Roman population consisted of slaves.\u00a0 They were seen as (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">property<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>II.\u00a0\u00a0 THE SAVIOR UNVEILS HIS FEELINGS<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Both Matthew and Luke tell us Jesus\u2019 reaction: (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>He marveled<\/strong><\/span>). The NLT uses the words, (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>He was amazed<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The word marveled in Greek means \u201cto be in awe and wonder; to be amazed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">True faith had infiltrated the centurion\u2019s life.
