Scripture: Romans 5:12-21

 

I.    OUR RUIN

 

Charles Dickens: “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.”

Paul interjects a key word in his writing: (but). It is found in three different places:

1. Romans 3:21

2. Ephesians 2:4

3. Titus 3:3-5 (p.998)

God’s grace doesn’t supplement our good works. Instead, His grace overcomes our bad works, which are our sins.

 

II.   OUR REMEDY          

Picture #1: Psalm 103:12 (p.502)

-This is a description of the (extent) of His forgiveness.

Picture #2: Isaiah 38:17 (p.599)

-This is a description of the (hiddenness) of His forgiveness.

Picture #3: Micah 7:19 (p.781)

-This is a description of the (depth) of His forgiveness.

Picture #4: Isaiah 43:25 (p.604)

-This is a description of the (completeness) of His forgiveness.

There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.Rom.8:1

One more “but” found in Colossians 1:21-22 (p.983)
