SERIES: FREEDOM! 2015 theme
TITLE: Story
Scripture: Galatians 1:1-3, 11-24
I. HIS INTRODUCTION (BILL)
Paul calls himself an “apostle.” What is that? An apostle was an ambassador or messenger (chosen and trained) by Jesus Christ as His special emissary. Two criteria were given in Acts 1:21-22:
1. Had to have seen the (Risen Lord).
2. Had to have been (taught) by Jesus.
Brief history of Saul’s/Paul’s life change. His story.
II. Paul’s Commission (Ryan)
The key of Paul’s Commission: He was (called by God). (vs 11-24, esp. v. 15)
What does it mean to say that Paul was ‘called by God’?
It does NOT mean: Paul was perfect.
It does NOT mean: Paul was elevated above everyone else.
It DOES mean: Paul abandoned his past purpose.
It DOES mean: Paul embraced the mission God had assigned him.
What I’ve learned about one who is called…
1) A person who is called must (encounter) the LORD.
2) A person who is called must begin with (surrender).
3) A person who is called must be willing to (obey).
