TITLE: Suffering Happens
Scripture: 2 Cor. 4: 8-15
I. THE INEVITABLE
“When trouble comes, this does not mean that I am a bad Christian. Nor does it mean God is against me, although sometimes I may feel that way. In my trouble, it helped immensely to know that I was going through something that happens to most of God’s beloved children.” (Ryken-p.16)
“For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.” Phil.1:29
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.” I P.4:12-13

II. THE LESSONS
“Suffering is inevitable; misery is optional.”
What lessons can we learn about trials?
They are (inevitable).
They do have a (purpose).
They show us where our (true strength) lies.
When we die, He lives. When we lose, He wins. When we’re weak, He is strong. When we’re dependent, He is powerful.
