MIDWEEK MESSAGE #273
Hello everyone and welcome to Midweek Message #273. I’m sure you missed me last week since I didn’t write a MM.😄 I’ll try to keep things to a “mild roar” this week. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Remember to pray for our educator of the week: Rebecca Chesser. Rebecca and Ethan have been married for 9 years and began their relationship while Ethan was in the Air Force. He is a master sergeant in the Air National Guard in Terre Haute. Rebecca has been homeschooling for 4 years. She and Ethan are the parents of 6 children, 4 of them quads. I think it is safe to say she has her hands full! 😄
This coming Sunday is a big day for the Military Care Team! They will be putting together a Care Package that says, “We care about you” for all our military personnel. We have 8 that will receive packages:

- Toiletries
- Baby wipes
- Books/magazines
- AA or D batteries
- Gift cards (Amazon or Walmart)

Boxes will be packed following second service this coming Sunday. Your help is welcome.
YOUTH NEWS
We have several of our young people involved in sports this fall/winter:
-
-
- Conrad and Calvin Keene are playing basketball at Tier 10.
- Logan Martin and Kysen White are playing on the OVMS 8th grade boys’ basketball team.
- Dane Stahl is playing on the 9th grade basketball team but also with the OVHS JV team.
- Aubrey Mangia is playing on the 9th grade girls’ basketball team.
- Cammie King is playing on the OVHS girls’ basketball team.
- CJ Wood is a cheerleader for OVMS.
- Amelia Biggs is playing for the OVMS 7th grade basketball team.
- Kayden White is playing for the Linton High School basketball team.
-
I’m sure I have missed some. These are the ones I know of. Please let me know if your son/daughter is playing a sport or is involved in some extracurricular activity. I do know Jo and I have been kept busy trying to catch at least one game each one plays in. I sure do feel for the parents of multiple children playing on multiple teams. But you do it because you love ‘em. 😄
-
-
- Caleb and Rachel East each had parts in the Civic Theatre presentation of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens this past weekend.
-
A big youth event is coming up the night of Wednesday, December 17th at 6:00. 😄Pastor Ryan and company are using that evening for a Pasta meal and dessert silent auction fundraiser! Proceeds will benefit 7 of our youth (+ 2 adults) attending the Tennessee Christian Teen Convention (TCTC) in January. They will also accept love offerings to help offset the cost of the trip. If you would like to provide a dessert for the silent auction, please sign up at the info table!
The Night of Christmas Worship on Sunday, December 21st at 6:00 looks to be a fantastic night together: singing, Communion, and a closing candlelight service. It will be a tremendous opportunity for you to take some time out of your busy schedule to reset your focus on Christ and Christmas. I look forward to seeing you there.
From time to time I want to include some prayer points that either didn’t make the
Sunday prayer time or need a little reminder. Here are some for you this week:
-
-
- The Chesser family. I mentioned on Sunday that Rebecca was to be our educator but was unable to be here due to some of their children being ill. Aiden was in the ER with breathing issues; Grace’s fever had spiked and she was been diagnosed with the flu; and they are praying Hazel (the youngest) doesn’t get it.
- Jim Markland is to have a hip replacement this Friday. It was rescheduled from last week. Pray that all goes well and Jim is up bugging Diana (did I say that?) soon. 😄
- Austin and Brooke Sheese were in a horrific car accident a few weeks ago. Brooke has already undergone 6 surgeries and has more to come. Austin has also had several surgeries. He is home and we are praying Brooke will be able to come home soon. They have two young children.
- Don Taylor, Jr is awaiting a pet scan on the 17th and a phone call with Simon Cancer Center on the 19th to determine a course of treatment.
- Jim Perin went for a cat scan on Tuesday (yesterday) to see about treatment for his esophageal cancer.
- Stay tuned to the future MMs for more prayer info.

My sermon this week is Ready! Aim! Hit the Target! from I Thess.-Philemon. I look forward to seeing you there! If you didn’t already know…you are loved.
