I. WHY IS IT CALLED THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST?
What is passion? Why was His passion unique?
1. More than a mere (human).
2. He was (innocent).
What is not important is who killed Jesus. What IS IMPORTANT is that He (chose to die).
The death of Jesus is the doorway to most fantastic part of the story: (the resurrection).
II. WHAT DID IT ACCOMPLISH?
6 reasons for the death of Jesus:
1. To absorb the (wrath of God). Romans 3:23-25
2. For the (forgiveness of sin). Eph. 1:7
3. To become a (ransom for many). Mk. 10:45
4. To (reconcile us) to God. 2 Cor. 5:17-19
5. To take away our (condemnation). Rom. 8:34
6. To free us from the (slavery of sin). Heb.13:12 and Rev. 1:5-6
