Scripture: Col. 1:15-22
I. JESUS IS PREEMINENT
What does Col. 1:15-17 say about Jesus?
1. He was the (exact image of God). (v.15)
2. He is (supreme over creation). (v.16)
3. He is (before all things). (v.17a)
4. He holds (all things together). (v.17b)
II. JESUS IS THE HEAD
Paul describes the church as a kingdom, a vineyard, a family, a flock, and a bride. But the most
profound is as a (body). See I Cor. 12:12-27
See also Eph. 4:15-16 and Col. 1:18- No (man) is the (head of the church).
III. JESUS IS THE SAVIOR
How does Paul describe us in Col. 1:18-22?
1. We were his (enemies).
2. We were also (reconciled) to Him.
3. We are (holy and blameless).
Conclude with two thoughts:
1. Make Christ (first in everything). Mt. 6:33; Col. 3:17
2. Refocus our (attention on Christ).
