Sunday, November 4 announcement…
On behalf of the elders.
On anniversary Sunday, the Elders presented their “plans” for the future of OVCF. A major priority was the hiring of a full-time Youth Pastor. We believe we have the perfect candidate for this position in Ryan East. Our youth program is thriving. Children’s lives are being positively affected and this move would only continue to help our church grow.
We stated that we would be gauging the pulse of the congregation through trends in attendance and giving in the last quarter of this year. We cannot ignore the fact that giving needs to increase in order to make this happen.
The leadership feels that God has blessed us greatly in meeting every need and overcoming every obstacle that has faced us over these past few years. You, the congregation, have stepped up with your time, your hard work and yes, your contributions. We have faith that the Lord will bless this decision.
Several people have offered to pledge money that would be applied towards Ryan’s salary. As a response to these offers, the Finance Team has created a pledge card. If any of you would like to pledge money to support Ryan’s salary during the coming year, please pick up a green pledge card at the table. (Please see a member of the finance or leadership team if you have questions.) If you’d like to support this, please designate “YP salary” in your check memo or on a note if you are giving cash.
We will be using the rest of this year (2 months) to evaluate whether OVCF is able to support hiring a youth pastor. We will be looking at trends in attendance, in giving and at any pledges that have been made by the congregation. We would like January 1 to be the day we can ask Ryan to be our full-time Youth Pastor, and for him to give his notice where he currently works. We ask everyone to pray for God’s guidance concerning this issue and we invite anyone with comments, questions, or concerns to talk to one of the church leaders.
