I. THE PROPHET’S CALL

“To know Jonah is to love him. And the reason we love him is because he is to much like us in our response to God’s guidance.”

Jonah first mentioned in 2 Kings 14:25 (p.321)

• Prophet during reign of Jeroboam II.

• Mortal enemies of Israelites were the (Assyrians).

• From Gath-hepher, town in Galilee, three miles from (Nazareth).

Called to go to Ninevah, the “great city” of the (Assyrians).

II. THE PROPHET’S REBELLION

Several truths emerge from this chapter/story:

1. You cannot (outrun) God.

2. God’s (mercy) is massive.

3. The storm isn’t (punishment); it’s an (intervention).
